Delhi Capitals ended their long wait to announce a replacement for England batting star Harry Brook, who pulled out of IPL 2024 due to personal reasons.
The 2021 finalists, on Monday, announced the signing of South Africa's express fast bowler Lizaad Williams as a replacement player.
30-year-old Lizaad Williams has been in a good rhythm, having played 9 matches for the Titans in the Cricket South Africa T20 Challenge.
The right-arm fast bowler picked up 15 wickets in 9 matches for the Super Kings in this year's edition of SA20.
Since making his international debut in 2021, Williams has represented South Africa in two Tests, four ODIs and 11 T20 Internationals. Lizaad Williams joined Delhi at his base price of INR50 lakh.
Delhi were struck by a huge blow when England's batting star Harry Brook pulled out of the IPL 2024 edition. Before the start of the season, Brook confirmed that he would not be travelling to India to be part of his second IPL season.
Brook was bought by the Capitals for INR4 crore at the auction in Dubai. Brook pulled out of IPL 2024 to be with his family after his grandmother died in February. The young batter was also not available for selection for England's Test series in India in February-March.
